Just months after being appointed the patron for Pan African Business Women’s Association (PABWA) in South Africa, former Citizen news anchor, Terryanne Chebet has quit Metropol TV.

Ms Chebet was the General Manager at Kenya’s first 24-hours business news channel were she has worked for a year since its inception.

In a post on her social media handles, Chebet announced that she will now be concentrating on her personal businesses including Keyara Organics, a skincare product manufacturer she founded in 2014 and has been managing to date.

“Today I say goodbye to my incredible team at Metropol TV Kenya. What an incredible journey it has been! You have taught me the real definition of being a leader and what teamwork is. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, especially because of your commitment and dedication to get the job done,” posted Chebet.

TV CAREER

“Our commitment to telling the stories of Mama Mbogas, SMEs, and startups has really inspired me and I will take this to my next journey. I appreciate you all for your viewership, criticism, and suggestions that helped build the first 24-hour business news channel in Kenya,” she added.

In 2016, while at the peak of career in TV, Chebet was among several employees who were laid off Royal Media Services.

The former TV journalist has in the past disclosed how much losing her job affected her.

LOSING HER JOB

“The dip that I had when I lost my job could have been a moment of despair. You know like so what next? I was at my prime. I had done a good job, it happened and it had to happen,” she said in a past interview.

“When I look back I’m like it was necessary because there were some lessons that I needed to learn and if that didn’t happen I wouldn’t be where I am today. In retrospect, it was necessary even though I was in so much pain,” she added.

She later picked herself up and became the Chief Executive Officer of Fanaka Television. In March 2019 she become the General Manager of Metropol TV, a position she quit on Tuesday.
