The interesting fact behind the NBA’s most famous logo
One of the most iconic logos in the sports arena is the one for the National Basketball Association of the US.
It features the silhouette of a player dribbling a ball. For years, it was meant to be an anonymous basketballer but in 2010, the person who made the logo confessed that he had extracted it from the photo of basketball hall-of-fame member Jerry West, who died on Wednesday, June 12, aged 86.
The logo was made in 1969.
In fact, the logo’s colour combination is what design pros would call a ‘classic’ – just look at how many national flags use these colours.
The NBA is a global sports and media company that consists of four professional sports leagues: the National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, the NBA G League and the NBA 2K League.
