‘This is a woman I loved so much,’ man who stabbed lover inside pizza shop

A man who stabbed his girlfriend to death at a pizza joint in Kitengela, Kajiado County, says he loved her very much.

Mr Patrick Munyoki Kioko allegedly stabbed Ms Gertrude Wayua Mutiso on the night of Friday, April 21, 2023, killing her on the spot.

In his statement to detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the man now says he was upset when he realised Ms Wayua was meeting one of the managers at her place of work.

“This is a woman I loved so much. I was just bitter that she decided to hurt me right at our place of work,” he told police.

Nairobi News is yet to learn the identity of the boss Mr Kioko had problems with, which led to Ms Wayua’s death.

“He told detectives investigating the matter that he was angry with Ms Wayua because she was dating one of her bosses,” said a detective privy to the ongoing investigations.

The officer further said it had emerged that the police had been made aware that Mr Kioko had threatened the deceased in the past but she never reported the matter to the police and simply sacked him.

It emerged that Mr Kioko and Ms Wayua had started their relationship while they were at Kimathi University in Nyeri County.

The suspect further told the officers that he was still pained but regretted his actions as the lady he loved so much was no more.

It is worth noting that Mr Kioko made the move when he was off duty.

Nairobi News has established that the deceased is a daughter of a senior police officer serving in Kiambu County.
