Police stage dramatic raid on gangsters’ hideout in Komarock, shoot dead three suspects
Three suspected gangsters, believed to be behind a series of robberies, were shot dead by the police on Friday evening in Komarock, Nairobi.
Police officers on patrol in the area raided the suspects’ hideout at Ogopa area along Komarack road resulting in a shootout which claimed the lives of three suspects, while one accomplice escaped on foot towards Maili Saba.
An AK 47 magazine with 4 rounds of ammunition, a mini Ceska, two homemade pistols and an assortment of crude weapons were recovered from the slain suspects.
Police also recovered a pair of police boots and a police jungle hat.
The bodies of the suspects were taken to City Mortuary for postmortem and identification.
WOUNDED
In another incident, a police officer is nursing bullets wounds after he was shot in the chest at close range by a man on a motorcycle on Friday morning in Kilifi town.
The Administration Police officer, who was manning a roadblock, however managed to shoot back and injure his assailant who fled, leaving his motorcycle on the ground.
Doctors at Kilifi County Hospital extracted two bullets from the wounded officer before he was flown to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
The suspect was arrested hours later when he sought treatment in a government hospital.
In the wake of the incident, dozens of youths in the town were rounded up and arrested as the police hunted down more suspects.
