Tim Wanyonyi vows to tame rogue city askaris if elected governor – VIDEO

Tim Wanyonyi has vowed to transform Nairobi into a friendly environment for residents and investors if elected the next governor of the capital.

The second term Westlands MP made the pledge while addressing the public in a series of rallies in Nairobi on Wednesday.

He dismissed reports he’d stepped down from the race to become the capital’s third governor in favour of someone else.

” I’ve served the people of Westland constituency for the past 10 years and I’m well versed with the challenges facing you,” he explained.

“Nairobi is where wealth and income for the country are generated. But the business conditions are not favourable. The City askaris are everywhere and people fear doing business. I will change that.”

He also asked Kenyans to elect Raila Odinga as the country’s next President.

“I will ensure your businesses are well secured so you can have a 24-hour economy without being harassed by anybody,” he told Kenyatta Market traders and residents.

Wanyonyi’s sentiments echo those of Mr Odinga who has promised better service delivery and standard of living if elected.

Wanyonyi who plans to contest on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket is up against incumbent Ann Kananu, Johnson Sakaja and Richard Ngatia.
