If you are like most Nairobians, then you are set to travel out of Nairobi this Valentines. What you do not know is that Nairobi is a host to amazing view points and beauty spots you could enjoy with your significant other this Valentine’s. Here’s a look into some of them;
1. The helipad atop KICC – Nairobi city is beautiful. That’s a fact. The one place where you can get to see all of it with all its magnificence is the helipad that is located at the top of the KICC. The view from up there is even better in the evening as the night life comes alive. This view is best accompanied by cocktails. Try it this Valentine’s Day.
2. The Godown Art Center – Nairobi has a vibrant art scene. The Godown Art Center located in Nairobi’s Industrial Area is home to a number of these talents. It is just a ten minutes’ drive from the city center. Some of the art is made into hand bags for the ladies.
3. Kiambethu tea farm – This is one of the earliest tea plantations in the country. It is based in Tigoni a 45 minutes’ drive from the central business district. The air here is calming, a perfect break from the bustle of the city. Other than learning about tea farming, you can also sample a bit of Kenyan rural life here.
4. Maai Mahiu Catholic church – The little structure that stands right by the edge of the Maai-Mahiu-Narok road is a breath-taking sight. It is the smallest church in Africa and amongst the smallest in the world. It is an excellent place to visit especially if you are interested in learning about the history of the area.
5. David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – The David Sheldrick wildlife trust is a safe haven for rescued baby elephants. It is located in the Nairobi National park along Lang’ata road. The elephants come out for an hour daily to meet people. Their stories are heart wrenching, you might want to carry a handkerchief. These little animals bring you face to face with love and humanity.
6. Karura forest – Even if you have been here before, it is not possible to see all the beauty of Karura in just one or two days. In addition to the serene environment, Karura has a rich flora and fauna. And the trails are perfect for romantic walks. If you are sucker for sun sets, the River café located within the forest would be the perfect place to enjoy a Nairobi sun set.
