Top police bosses moved in mini-reshuffle

The police commission on Saturday named five new county police commanders in a mini reshuffle.

Three of the commanders were recently reinstated after being vetted afresh by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

Mr Eusebius Laibuta from the Administration Police has also been deployed to Emali AP College as the in-charge.

Former Kajiado County police commander Tito Kilonzi has been posted to Mombasa as the commander.

He replaces Mr Robert Kitur, who has been promoted to Regional Coordinator, Coast region.

Former Nyeri head of operations Shariff Abdalla has been posted to Elgeyo Marakwet as the county commander while the former head of Dadaab refugee camp, Kalicha Roba, is the new Embu boss.

DISMISSED

The three senior officers were dismissed by the vetting team on January 13 but appealed.

In the changes announced by Deputy Inspector General Grace Kaindi, the Nairobi deputy county commander Joseph Limo has been transferred to Kisumu as the commander and has replaced Mr Nelson Njiiri.

Mr Njiiri heads to Kajiado where he will replace Mr Kilonzi. The new Nairobi deputy commander is Mr Patrick Mwakio.

The changes, according to sources, were prompted by cases of insecurity in the affected areas. More transfers are expected soon.

Kisumu has witnessed a surge in insecurity in the recent past. Recently, the Kondele police station commander was transferred following complaints by locals. But Mr Willy Lugusa still remains Nyanza regional coordinator.

Former Nakuru county commander John Koki has been transferred to Nyeri as head of personnel.

Last week, Ms Kaindi transferred 294 junior police officers across the country.
