Nakumatt FC are closing in on securing the services of Martin Imbalambala and Enock Agwanda in the current mid-season transfer window.

The FKF Premier League side is understood to have commenced talks with the two players who are available on a free transfer.

Imbalambala ended his four year stay at AFC Leopards by mutual consent earlier this week, while Agwanda was also released by Sofapaka in the wake of a contractual dispute and some below par performances this season.

“I might be joining Nakumatt, they have approached me with a very good offer,” Imbalambala told Nairobi News.

Nakumatt’s Italian coach Gian Piero Gasperini says the team is striving to finish the league in the top six position this season.

At the same time, former Sofapaka midfielder Ellie Asieche has signed for KCB for an undisclosed fee.

PERSONAL TERMS

The midfielder, who left the Batoto ba Mungu in the mid-season transfer window told KNA that he has already agreed terms with the Rashidi Shedu coached side.

“We’ve agreed on personal terms and I’ve already started training with the club,” said Asieche in an interview in Nairobi, today.

The midfielder pointed out, unpaid dues and lack of playing time as his reasons for parting ways with the 2009 Tusker Premier League Champions.

“I felt that I needed to go somewhere, where I could get more playing time which wasn’t happening at Sofapaka as I was largely used as a substitute,” said Asieche.

“Then of course there is the issue of money, the club was not paying me promptly which again was greatly affecting my career.

But I’m happy to have signed for KCB and I am looking forward to helping the club meet its objective,” explained the midfielder.

Sofapaka who are currently second on the log with 27 points, look set to lose a host of players, with many seeking greener pastures due to unpaid salaries and allowances.

 NEW CONTRACT

Reports claim that Burundian Abdul Fiston is likely to join South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Congolese import Patrick Kagogo and midfielder Danson Kago are also set to follow suit, with the former failing to show up for training for an extended period of time in protest of money owed to him.

Kago, on the other hand, has seen talks for a new contract put on hold due unavailability of funds.

Also on the verge of leaving the club, is head coach Sam Timbe, who has refused to renew his contract which expires in less than a month.

The tactician has been linked with a role at struggling side Tusker currently being handled by former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi.

However, Tusker’s hierarchy has denied claims that they are looking to replace Kimanzi, who has performed dismally this season, with the club’s Director Charles Obiny quoted by a section of the media as saying “Kimanzi is the right person to take us forward and we are not looking to replace him with anyone.”
