TSC now disowns KU memo

Teachers Service Commission has disowned a memo sent last week to Kenyatta University that reportedly instructed English and Literature students to take an additional teaching subject.

TSC boss Gabriel Lengoiboni said the Commission had not issued such a memo.

Curiously, Kenyatta University had last week revoked the said memo.

Faculty of Education dean Prof Fatuma Chege, told the students to ignore the earlier circular.

The School of Education confirmed that all students taking English and Literature will still be eligible for employment by the commission.

The memo had sparked anxiety that saw first and second year students rushing to apply for humanities subjects to add to their combination.

The adamant ones, mostly the third and fourth years, were for the revocation from the beginning.

Combination

The teachers’ employer had reportedly issued the memo last week requiring students taking English and Literature to take another teaching subject from the humanities; Religious Studies, History or Geography.
