TV girl Irene Muchuma mourns mum

The family of the late Commander Rose Muchuma, the former Kericho County Security Coordinating Commander, mourned her following her demise on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

According to the family, the late Muchuma had been ill and died at a Kericho hospital at the age of 67.

“My name is Humphrey Muchuma, I am the eldest son to our mum, Rose Muchuma. It is with a heavy heart that I get to share the news of the passing of our mum. She was an incredible woman to us as her children, a wonderful grandmother. She was a people’s person, she was loved and she actually taught us courage to go out there and face the world, taught us how to be people who can take over things and make them work and more so, she taught us compassion. Compassion was a great deal for her. She cared a lot about the widows, orphans and people really in need,” said Mr Humphrey Muchuma.

He revealed that his mother died after a short illness in Kericho, saying she chose to get treatment in Kericho because it was where she retired about six years earlier.

“She loved the hospitality and the kind of treatment the hospital where she was, Siloam, was giving her. So, mum, we are here because you loved the place,” added Mr Muchuma.

The late Muchuma’s brother, George William Omusina, said they had lost a very important person in their family, a woman whom many depended on for many things.

“When our parents left us, Rose took over and raised us until where we are today. Our parents left behind eight of us and Rose was our breadwinner until today. In losing Rose, we have lost a pillar who can never be replaced,” said Mr Omusina.

Mr Omusina further revealed that the late Muchuma had already planned for her funeral and what she wanted done, adding that the family will not deviate far from her plans.

She will be buried at her home in Webuye, Bungoma County on March 21, 2023.

In addition to Humphrey, the deceased left behind three other children including KCB Channel 1’s reporter Irene Muchuma.

The late Muchuma received a Head of State Commendation honor from the late president Mwai Kibaki in 2008 having served in the police service since 1975 where she rose through the ranks from constable to corporal and commander.
