Two suspects lynched, robbers shot dead in crime wave in Nairobi

Residents of Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Riara area, on Monday lynched two men to death on allegations that they had stolen from a local shop.

According to a police report filed from the area, police were informed by a member of the public at around 11am that there were bodies near Commido.

“Police rushed to the scene where it was established that one male adult suspected to have broken into a shop with his brother and stole a gambling machine were subjected to mob injustice,” read the police report in part.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to city mortuary.

In Kilimani, three men were killed in a shootout with police who had responded after a member of the public called for help.

ATTEMPTED RAPE

A security guard attached to the National Library was walking home at 6:30pm along Lower Hill Road when three men accosted her near golf club, dragged her to a nearby bush and attempted to rape her.

“She raised alarm and police officers responded and upon officers challenging the thugs one of them fired towards the officers which prompted the officers to respond and fatally injure the three,” stated the police report.

Two homemade pistols each with one ammo of 9mm and a panga were recovered from the three.

The victim’s Sh1, 100 and a mobile phone were also recovered and she was taken to Nairobi Women’s hospital for treatment as she had sustained a cut on the right side of the head.
