‘Tyrant’ series actor Alexander Karim spotted in Mombasa


Alexander Karim, one of the actors in the Hollywood hit series, Tyrant, was recently spotted in Mombasa County. From a photo posted by Kenyan actor Hussein Abdiz, it appears Karim had a shoot in the coastal city.

“Alhamdulilah on set with Tyrant superstar @alexanderkarim Mombasa to the world. Blessed Friday,” Abdiz captioned the photo of himself and Karim.

It however remains unknown what film Alexander Karim could be shooting in Kenya.

Tyrant, a globally renowned film series, aired between 2014 and 2016, tells the story of the youngest son of an infamous Middle East tyrant who fled the country for the United States.

After 20 years, the son, Barry, returns to his home with his American family for his nephew’s wedding but is drawn into the political machinations of the country when his father dies during a growing revolution against his family.

Barry then finds himself in the position to guide the country’s new president, Ashraf, his brutal older brother, to avert an impending bloody battle in the country.

Karim, born in May 1976 in Helsingborg, Skåne län, Sweden, appeared in the series as Ihab Rashid, Sheik Rashid’s son and the resistance leader who aspired to take over the government from Barry’s family. Sheik Rashid was the exiled former resistance leader in the country.

According to IMDb, an online database of information related to films, series, podcasts and other formats of broadcast content, Karim is an actor and writer who is also known in appearing in Dying of the Light (2014) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). He has two nominations which were from the Kristallen and the Palm Springs International ShortFest.

He is also among the star cast of The Swarm (2023), an ecological thriller about the interconnectedness between earth and mankind. In this series, he stars as Dr Sigur Johanson. The science fiction film, produced by the producers behind the award winning series, Game of Thrones, is about a scientists’ task force working together to try and prevent the spread of a bacterial disease across the world that spreads via sources of water.

Karim is married and has three children.
