Uhuru ahead of Raila in latest opinion poll
President Uhuru Kenyatta is the most popular presidential candidate, a new opinion poll has shown.
Mr Kenyatta enjoys the support of 44.5% of Kenyans while his closest challenger, Raila Odinga, commands a 27.8% popularity rating.
The survey by Infotrak Research and Consulting showed that Deputy president William Ruto as a presidential candidate only enjoys support from 1.2% of the 1,800 of the respondents.
The poll also rated prospective candidates Kalonzo Musyoka (2.5%), Peter Kenneth (2.2%), Moses Wetangula (1.1%), Martha Karua (0.7%) and Musalia Mudavadi (0.5%).
MOST POPULAR PARTY
The newly created Jubilee Alliance Party is the most popular political party at 30 % followed by Cord at 26 %. TNA has 7.6% support while WDM has 2.6%.
Another 40% said they supported Jubilee coalition and 30.8% showed their support for Cord. 88% of those on Jubilee would vote for Kenyatta while 77% of those in Cord would vote for Raila should elections be held today.
President Kenyatta has 40% support among the youth while Raila has 30% among the youth under 30 yrs.
The poll also revealed that the media enjoys the highest trust levels from Kenyans at 65% with the least trusted institution being the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
70% of Kenyans indicated that they don’t trust the anti graft body, 61% said they don’t trust the Judiciary while 58% showed mistrust with the police.
