Uhuru donates dates to Muslims and Twitter can’t cope
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday donated 36 tonnes of dates to needy Muslims, eliciting mixed reactions online.
Some critics made fun of the President’s donation calling the date “Tende za Mexico” alluding to the maize saga.
Some Muslims however appreciated the President’s gesture stating that some households are usually unable to afford the dates during the holy month of Ramadhan.

This year’s Ramadhan will begin on Friday evening until 30 days later when the moon will be sighted which has been estimated to be June 24.
Dates are eaten by Muslims when breaking the daily Ramadhan fast because they are a staple fruit in the Middle East and were eaten by Prophet Mohammad as he broke his fast.
They are also a source of fiber, sugar, magnesium, potassium, and have carbohydrates all great benefits for people after fasting all day.
Here are some reactions to the President’s dates donation to Muslims:
@UKenyatta Muslims are not fools. Why this year. Was there no ramadan the other years. @KBonimtetezi @MigunaMiguna @TheODMparty
