Uhuru fires top police bosses in drastic changes


President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday sacked top officials in the National Police Service and named their replacements who will hold office in acting capacities.

The president sacked Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Ndegwa Muhoro, and Deputy Inspectors General Joel Kitili (Kenya Police) and Samuel Arachi (Administration Police) from the National Police Service.

They will be replaced in acting capacities by George Kinoti, Njoroge Mbugua and Noor Gabao respectively pending  vetting and approval by parliament.

Mr Mbugua is a former presidential escort commander, while Mr Kinoti is the current National Police Service spokesperson.

The names of Mr Muhoro, Mr Kitili and Mr Arachi have been forwarded to the Public Service Commission for redeployment.
