Uhuru now halts DP Ruto’s ‘tanga tanga’ projects
A presidential directive has put on hold Deputy President William Ruto’s infamous ‘tanga tanga’ projects.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a freeze on all new government projects ‘until those that are ongoing are completed’.
The President issued the directive to all government accounting officers with a warning that no such new projects should be sanctioned without express authority from the National Treasury.

He spoke at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre where he addressed a meeting bringing together all government accounting officers including principle secretaries, parastatal heads, vice-chancellors of public universities and chairmen of state corporations.

RUTO’S PROJECTS
This announcement will without doubt affect the schedule of Ruto who has off late taken to launching dozens of development projects across the country each weekend, as a strategy of connecting with the grassroots voter ahead of his presidential bid in 2022..
On Friday, for example, Ruto was in Kakamega County where he laid a foundation stone for the construction of a medical college.

Ruto was also expected to present buses to Tande Secondary School and Kimatuni Secondary School and also launch the tarmacking of Musanda-Sidindi road in Busia West.
Last month, the DP commissioned the Sh3.2 billion worth 70km Shimoni-Vanga-Lunga Lunga road in Kwale County and urged the contractor to ensure locals from the area are given a priority in employment opportunities.
In April, the President gave a go-ahead to Ruto to tanga tanga (roam around) the country inspecting development projects.
