Uhuru hands plum jobs to Caroline Mutoko, Julie Gichuru

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made sweeping changes in parastatals, bringing in popular media personalities to give fresh impetus to the state corporations.

Radio queen radio personality Caroline Mutoko has been appointed to serve on the board of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Ms Mutoko is currently the ‎program controller at Kiss 100 and also the group marketing manager at Radio Africa Group Limited.

Also appointed on the same board is the ‎Chief Operating Officer at Royal Media Services Farida Karonney.

Citizen TV‘s Julie Gichuru has been been appointed to the board of Brand Kenya. Her experience in media circles in meant to give the board expertise in marketing Kenya better in local and international media.

The President named more than 350 appointees in the changes as he seeks to stamp his authority on the crucial sector at the mid-point of his first term in office.

The widow of former assistant minister Orwa Ojode, Mary Okeyo-Orwa, has been named to the Lake Basin Development Authority Act Board. Mr Ojode perished in a helicopter crash together with then Internal Security minister George Saitoti.

The publication of the names of the new board members follows lengthy deliberations within the government as the Jubilee administration effectively weeds out numerous appointees of the Kibaki-Odinga grand coalition whose performance was not seen as matching the objectives of the Jubilee government.
