Uhuru now vows to teach Governor Joho a ‘lesson’

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday vowed to teach Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho a lesson for pestering him and interfering with his work.

“He should not play with us or else we will teach him a lesson,” President Kenyatta said at Mtongwe Channel, where is re-launching a ferry, MV Likoni.

The president did not specify on the nature of the lesson.

Mr Kenyatta accused Mr Joho of failing to develop Mombasa and asked him to account for Sh40 billion given to the county as equitable share.

Mwambieni asituchezee…sisi tutamnyorosha (tell him not to joke with us… we’ll deal with him),” he has told the public at Mtongwe.

He added: “Mimi si bibi yake anifuate fuate.”

Mr Kenyatta said Mr Joho should focus on his work as governor and stop interfering with national government projects.

The Head of State said Mr Joho had failed to develop Mombasa and should account for Sh40 billion allocated to the county in the last four years.

Earlier in the day, officers from the Presidential Escort, the flying squad and GSU blocked and held Mr Joho and Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba as they made their way to town on bodabodas.

The officers escorted the governor to his office, where they stood guard before being joined by their colleagues from the Anti-Terror Police Unit.
