Uhuru pays tribute to deceased Robert Ouko’s widow
President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his messages of condolence to the family and friends of the late Mrs Christabel Ouko who died in a road accident on Monday.
In a statement, the president described Mrs Ouko as an individual who was dedicated to her family and community.
“During her long life she distinguished herself by her dedication to her family, her community and her country. She served the nation as a civil servant and then supported her husband as he too served Kenya with distinction. In later years she devoted herself to her family and to her community. In doing so she helped others make the most of their talents and earned their gratitude,” read part of the statement from State House.
The widow to the late former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko was being driven by her son who survived the accident. Their vehicle rolled off-course, police say.
The accident occurred at Kipsitet area along Awasi-Kericho highway.
She had attended the inauguration ceremony of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Monday and was heading back home.
Kenyans on Twitter also joined in to offer their messages of condolences to the family. This is what they had to say.

If you remember Christabel Ouko's quiet, dignified grace in the face of very public, impossibly tragic grief in 1990, this is a sad moment.
