Uhuru: Why Muchai was killed
Kabete MP George Muchai was killed because of his war against corruption, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Friday.
He termed Mr Muchai’s death a great loss and promised to help bring his killers to book.
“Don’t think by killing a man you have found peace. We’ll continue to fight you and the evils Muchai was fighting,” the President told mourners during a requiem mass at the Anglican St Josephs’ church in Kabete.
“We cannot allow a few people to continue with corruption and impunity. Even if we will leave all to God to do his will, there are times when anger overwhelms us,” he said
“And to the killers, don’t cerebrate just yet as your actions have energised our resolve to fight you. We are determined to ensure what Muchai was fighting for is achieved.”

“We will ensure culprits of this heinous act face the law and there is no turning back on this.”
The MP who was shot dead last Saturday in the city, alongside his three aides will be buried on Friday at his Ruai home in Nairobi.
Mourners, who included 20 MPs described the late Muchai as a selfless man who devoted his time and resources to fight for others’ rights.
Speakers recounted their last moments with the MP.
His daughters, Stephanie and Tracy, were overwhelmed by grief and could not read their tributes.
Judy Lodder, an in-law, recalled her moments with Mr Muchai during dinner hours before his death.
“That night was special. It was full of memories and laughter. Little did I know I was coming to say goodbye to him,” said Ms Lodder who arrived from South Africa on the fateful day.
Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi who chaired the burial committee, called on the President to ensure the family gets justice.
Also present was National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Kiambu county MP Annah Nyokabi.
