UK authoritiers charge Kenyan mother with murder of four-year-old son

A Kenyan woman has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old son in east London.

Keziah Macharia, 41, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court facing charges of murdering, Kobi Macharia Dooly.

She was arrested on suspicion of the murder after the boy was reportedly found with multiple knife wounds at their terraced home in Hackney.

Upon entering the residence, officers found Kobi with knife injuries.

Despite the swift intervention of emergency services, the young boy tragically succumbed to the injuries.

Macharia was charged with murder and will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 28, 2023.

She did not enter a plea during the initial proceedings and is currently held until her next court appearance with the Metropolitan Police also announcing that a special post-mortem examination will take place on the same day.

According to local media, detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and that the boy’s next of kin had been informed.

A picture of Kobi was released by the Metropolitan police on Saturday, along with a tribute from his father, Ben Dooly.

“With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Kobi, you will be so dearly missed,” he said.

“The joy and laughter you brought to the world has been taken far too soon, we will be thinking of you day and night for eternity until we meet you again.

“The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate all messages of support, please respect our family privacy at this very difficult time.”
