Ulinzi Stars blow away Muhoroni Youth

Ulinzi Stars continued their impressive run when they gunned down visiting Muhoroni Youth 3-0 in a mid-week Kenyan Premier League match played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru, on Thursday.

Ulinzi’s man of the moment was striker John Makwata who scored a brace and played a key role in the third goal.

Robert Matano’s charges started their hunt for a goal as early as the fourth minute of the match when Makwata dribbled into Muhoroni’s goalmouth before unleashing ground shot that beat Muhoroni custodian Allan Owiny.

PILED PRESSURE

And as the match gathered  momentum, Ulinzi piled more pressure and their efforts were rewarded when Makwata scored the second goal shortly before half-time.

Upon resumption, Muhoroni made several changes but this did not stop the soldiers from scoring their third goal when striker Kevin Amwayi beat his markers and drew goalkeeper Owiny from his position to plant the ball into an empty net.

Muhoroni coach Francis Baraza said his charges failed to translate several scoring chances into goals in the first half.

“We had our own share of missed chances and this could have turned the game in our favour in the first-half. This  was our main undoing,” said Baraza.
