Umoja house help accused of strangling baby to be held longer
A house help accused of strangling an eight-month baby under her care will be detained by police for one more week.
Regina Wambui Njoroge, 20, who allegedly strangled Stefani Nzisa in Umoja 2, appeared before Justice Stella Mutuka on Monday but was not required to take a plea until she gets a lawyer.
She was remanded in custody until June 6, 2016 when she will be called upon to enter a plea.
The shocking incident happened thirteen days ago after the child’s mother had gone to work.
A postmortem by Dr Johannes Oduor at Kenyatta University hospital mortuary revealed that the baby’s body exhibited signs of strangulation. But when the house help was questioned by the family, she claimed the baby had fallen from the seat and hurt her head.
Baby Nzisa was laid to rest in Kangundo, Machakos County last week Monday.
