University lecturer’s wife to be buried today
Ms Rebecca Mwachongo, the wife of Strathmore University lecturer Fredrick Ogola, who is facing investigations over her death will be buried today at the latter’s farm in Sega, Siaya County.
On Friday, family and friends of the deceased converged for a requiem mass at St Austin’s Catholic Church in Nairobi.
It was an emotional session as family and friends gave glowing tribute to Ms Mwachongo who died on January 1.
Dr Ogola gave a moving tribute to his wife before breaking down in tears.
“Becky was very meticulous. She made lots of sacrifices to ensure that I was always prepared for my local and foreign professional duties,” he said.

A family friend, who did not wish to go on record, told the Nation that the families of Ms Mwachongo and Mr Ogola were in harmony, and had worked together through the funeral arrangements.
“There’s no animosity or suspicions between them. What happened was tragic. We are waiting for the police to conclude investigations. For now, we want to accord Becky a fitting send-off,” he said.
Mr Joseph Ogidi, a family friend, said: “I have known Becky and Fred for five years. There was nothing about them to suggest a strained relationship.”
