A section of University of Nairobi students on Saturday took to the streets demanding the release controversial Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

The MP was on Friday arrested by Flying Squad officers outside Parliament buildings for allegedly assaulting a parking attendant in Westlands on January 11.

This comes after the video believed to be of the legislator and his aides roughing up the attendant went viral.

The students mostly drawn from the Parklands campus barricaded sections of the roads leading to the CBD claiming that the MP is being falsely accused.

The clip was obtained from CCTV footage at Fotris Plaza in Westlands, Nairobi.

It showed a group a group of men alighting from an SUV and beating the helpless attendant.

Online users lashed at the lawmaker convinced that the man on the clip was him.

He has since denied the allegations saying he was in Mombasa on the said date and blamed Jubilee for spreading the falsehoods.
