Makongeni building collapse death toll reaches four

The death toll from collapsed residential building in Makongeni rose to four after three bodies were recovered from the rubble.

Kenya Red Cross reported that the bodies were retrieved on Wednesday night.

One of those injured after the five-storey building collapsed died Wednesday on the way to Kenyatta National Hospital.

The building, according to survivors and witnesses, collapsed at around 3am, when occupants were asleep.

It sank into its foundation and part of it fell on iron sheet houses occupied by three families.

Three floors, each hosting five units, are said to have been fully occupied by tenants, mostly students of Technical University of Kenya.
