UPDATE: Stray lioness found unharmed near Kibera
One lioness has been safely sedated near Kibera by Kenya Wildlife Services wardens and transported back to Nairobi National Park.
The lioness was part of a pride that had strayed from the park on Friday early morning.
The pride is believed to have entered Lang’ata estate through the Southern Bypass. They were last seen around the Lang’ata Hospital, Housing Corporation and Southern Bypass area.
Kenya Wildlife Service spokesman Paul Udoto had appealed to the public to contact wardens should they see the pride.
“We are depending on the public to report if they sight them,” Mr told the Daily Nation.
Officials urged vigilance and warned residents to call a toll free number if they spot the lions.
“Our team has been on ground since 3 am to ensure that the … lions are safely back,” the Kenya Wildlife Service tweeted.
