No Valentine’s for Harambee Stars striker Allan Wanga
Harambee Stars forward Allan Wanga will yet again celebrate Valentine’s Day on duty and far away from home.
Speaking to Nairobi News, Wanga, who turns out for Tanzanian club Azam FC, said he would have preferred to spend the occasion with his family, if not for work commitment.
“This is the seventh consecutive year I will be away from home during this special occasion. I would have wished to be with my family and shower them with love,” said Wanga who is married to NTV journalist Brenda Mulinya with whom they have two children.
“Football is a challenging career mainly because of the public scrutiny that we footballers are subjected to. We also have to work extra hard while spending long periods far away from home. I am blessed to have a partner with a heavy work schedule but still with the brains to have everything within the family in order. Now that is love,” the former Petro Atletico (Angola) and El Merreikh forward says.
Wanga is expected to start for his side against Coastal Union in a Vodacom Premier League match on Valentine’s Day.
