Vera Sidika most searched person on Google in Kenya
Google’s Zeitgeist (year in search) is out and from the look of things, Kenyans are a curious lot.
1. Vera Sidika
The socialite was the most googled person in Kenya in 2014, according to the list. She is a socialite who became famous after she was featured in 2013 in a P’Unit music video flaunting her heavy derriere.
Sidika has since ruled the blogs and social media with pictures of her voluptuous figure and what looks like a life on the fast lane.
2. Otieno Kajwang
The late Homa Bay senator came in second following his death in November 2014. The feisty politician was best-known for singing Mapambano song with his trademark flywhisk.
3. Angel Di Maria
The Argentine footballer who was signed by Manchester United from Real Madrid after a string of disappointing results by the English Premier League side.
4. Dr. Myles Munroe
He is an American author and evangelist who died in a tragic plane crash in November alongside his wife. Kenyans were particularly fascinated by his interview with KTN this year where he had a near premonition of his death.
5. Robin Williams
The American comedy actor kept millions of people around the world laughing. But in August he died in what was ruled a case of suicide. Many Kenyan fans were gutted.
6. Juan Mata
Shunned by his former coach at Chelsea Jose Mourinho, the Spanish footballer finally found favour in the hands of former Manchester United manager David Moyes. He had a disappointing start but has found his shape in the recent times.
7. Betty Bayo
The Kikuyu gospel artist got on the list after she was embroiled in controversy after her husband was exposed as a phony pastor. Her husband is Victor Kanyari of Salvation Healing Ministry in Nairobi.
8. Joan Rivers
She cracked the ribs of millions around the world with her TV show take on fashion blunders and ticks until she died of cardiac arrest in September this year. She was also an actress.
9. Arturo Vidal
The Chilean midfielder who plays for Juventus had attracted interest from Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal but the deal did not materialize.
10. Pastor Victor Kanyari
He is Betty Bayo’s husband who was featured in KTN’s Makri ya Injili investigative feature for faking miracles. Many Kenyans were amazed at his brazen lies all caught on camera.
