VIDEO: Uhuru, Raila display bromance, but…
Political nemeses President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga tickled the congregation attending the commemoration of the death of Kenya’s first president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta on Monday.
The two, who attended the mass at the Holy Family Basilica on Monday, displayed bromance and alluded to the long-running friendship between the two families.
However, the two did not hug as they have previously done, pointing to a case of simmering tension.
JARAMOGI’S DIRGE
The head-of-state had just concluded his remarks that were made off-the-cuff when he broke protocol and invited Mr Odinga to make few remarks.
“Mimi nimalizie hapo lakini sababu ndugu tinga yuko hapa, si ukuje useme machache,” said President Kenyatta, much to the delight of the congregants.
Mr Odinga walked to the front and recalled how his late father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga visited State House on the day Mzee Kenyatta passed on and performed a “very powerful” dirge.
NO LIVES LOST
He also said that the two usually communicate regularly on phone and said Kenyans should not lose their lives on the account of political competition.
