Vocal Senator Malala is now officially taken; meet the lucky bride – PHOTOS

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has officially quit the bachelor’s club, albeit in a good old-fashioned way on Saturday at the bride’s home.

The vocal politician was compelled to pick out his bride from a group of women covered in lessos from head to toe during the traditional dowry ceremony.

This old traditional is often used by in-laws use to test the groom’s knowledge of his wife to be.

POLITICAL FATHER

The first term senator was accompanied by a host of friends, mostly prominent politicians from Kakamega County, including Governor Wycliffe Oprayanya, whom the groom described as his ‘political father’.

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing,” explained Malala.

“This was the theme of the day as I was escorted by my father in politics, Kakamega County Governor, Hon Oparanya, ANC and ODM Secretary Generals Hon Osotsi and Hon Sifuna Edwin and a host of other leaders for my dowry and betrothment ceremony to the love of my life Carolina Ayiesta at Andidi area in Butsosto East ward, Lurambi Consticuency,” he said.

NATIONAL POLITICS

“They congratulated me for the bold move and encouraged other leaders to emulate that kind of unity in their leadership. A unity that surpasses political innuendos and undertones.”

As always, there was much to drink and eat at the event as Malala officially quit the bachelor’s club.

Not much is known about the bride, but Malala, 33, is considered among the next ‘big thing’ in national politics.

Prior to joining politics, he was a director of schools and colleges and is also a renowned script writer, having penned several award winning plays for Kakamega High Schoool.
