Waiguru ‘withdraws’ suit against Raila for linking her to NYS I millions
Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has announced an out of court settlement in a case she had sued opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Without getting into details, Waiguru suggested her decision had been arrived at in the spirit of the ‘handshake’ between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader.
She wrote on Twitter: “Just had a meeting with former Prime Minister H.E Right Honorable Raila Odinga on the outstanding matter in court. In the spirit of cohesion and reconciliation in the country, the matter stands settled.”
The Tweet was accompanied with a photo of the two politicians. The governor, however, provided no evidence that she has withdrawn the suit and the case had been marked closed.

Waiguru dragged Odinga to court in 2015 back after the later continuously accused her of embezzling millions of shillings at the National Youth Service (NYS).
Earlier this year, Waiguru complained that the defamation case was taking “too long” to be concluded.
“Throughout the course of this matter, Odinga has made numerous attempts to delay the matter, including failing to comply with civil procedure rules and requesting adjournments on a number of occasions,” explained Mohamed Muigai, Waiguru’s lawyer.
“I am apprehensive that further delay will prejudice me by compromising the availability of my witness and her ability to recall matters pertinent to this suit.”
Waiguru has not commented on another case she filed against former senators Boni Khalwale and Johnstone Muthama.
