Walusimbi purchases tickets for Cranes fans ahead of crucial match
Uganda international Godfrey Walusimbi has purchased tickets for dozens of fans for Sunday’s high-billed African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Comoros in Kampala.
The Gor Mahia defender is among high profile players who have been called up to do national duty for his country in the crucial match.
The Uganda national team need a clear win against Comoros in the match with a berth in the 2017 African Cup of Nations at stake.
If they qualify, it will be Uganda’s first appearance in the continental showpiece in more than three decades.

And perhaps in a bid to rake up the invaluable home support amid the trending #mujjetulumbe rallying call, the left footed defender on Wednesday joined up with two of his international teammates, including South African based custodian Denis Onyango and Scandinavian based hard tackling midfielder Tony Mawejje, to purchase the tickets.
According to celebrated Ugandan journalist Patriq Kanyamozi, the tickets will be distributed to the few lucky fans on WBS TVs lunchtime sports show.
“Denis Onyango, Tonny Mawejje and Godfrey Walusimbi have decided to give back to the fans for supporting the national team through thick and thin. They have provided tickets for the Comoros game to be won on the WBS lunch time sports show starting today… Good gesture from the senior players,” Kanyamozi wrote on his official Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the Cranes warmed up for the Comoros game with a barren draw against Kenya in a friendly match on Tuesday in Kampala.
