Walusimbi’s mysterious ‘disappearance’ leaves Rachier fuming
In a strange twist of events, Gor Mahia has now reported the mysterious ‘disappearance’ of utility fullback Godfrey Walusimbi, who is said to have travelled to South Africa to negotiate a deal with Kaizier Chiefs.
A fuming club chairman, Ambrose Rachier, has opened up on the limbo surrounding the player’s unfolding saga.
Through a statement published on the club’s official website, Rachier claims the defender made it to South Africa without being granted permission or notifying the club.
“Let it be known that Walusimbi made it to South Africa to meet Kaizer Chiefs without the club’s permission or notifying the club on his travel intentions. It’s unfortunate that a player can just decide on his own to travel to engage another club without our knowledge,” said Rachier.

The chairman has further disclosed that he got a call from his counterpart in South Africa asking if they could negotiate on the player but he declined because Walusimbi still has a contract with Gor Mahia.
“I got an alert from someone that he was travelling and the next thing was a call from Kaizer Chiefs chairman apologizing for that step and requesting if we could talk on a possible move. I declined to discuss anything and told the Chiefs’ chairman I will hold a meeting with my EC (Executive Committee) then we will know what step to take,” he said.
Walusimbi was fielded in Tuesday’s league match against Bandari at Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa where K’Ogalo’s unbeaten run this season came to an end as the dockers won 2-1.
The Ugandan player is however reported to have sneaked out to South Africa on Thursday. Nairobi News understands that Walusimbi’s contract is set to expire next year.
