Wanga finally signs for Azam FC for Sh6 million

New Azam FC forward Allan Wanga says he is keen to exorcise the ghosts of the poor reputation earned by Kenyan footballers in Tanzania.

The Kenya international was exclusively speaking to Nairobi News moments after penning a year long contract with the cash-rich Vodacom Premier League side, believed to be worth Sh 6 million.

The player will also be given a car and a house during the duration of his contract.

“I have spoken to the coach and technical bench and they are counting on me to win the title for Azam this season. There is also the small subject of star Kenyan players performing below par in Tanzania, a record I am keen to put straight,” Wanga told Nairobi News.

Since the goal scoring exploits of Boniface Ambani at Simba SC, a number of Kenyan players including Mungai Kiongera, Joackins Atudo, Humphrey Mieno and George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo have struggled to leave a positive mark in Tanzania.

The 28 year old adds that he will be keen to add his goals and experience to the Chamazi based outfit.

Azam FC CEO Saad Kawemba also welcomed the player to the club.

“The club is pleased to have acquired one of the most quality strikers in the Cecafa region. He has a knack of scoring important goals, including in the last two editions of the Cecafa Senior and Kagame Cup, a quality we have been lacking. I am certain he is going to have a successful stay at the club,” he said

Wanga had previously played for and won titles in the Angola, Sudan, Vietnam, Azerbaijan and Kenyan leagues.
