Wanjiku Wakogi appointed Gachagua’s new Chief of Staff

Wanjiku Wakogi is the new Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy President.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua confirmed the appointment on December 19, 2023.

Ms Wakogi is a long-serving public servant who has led an illustrious career in various Offices and Departments,” explained Gachagua.

“The high-profile technocrat and team leader has risen through ranks and has served as the Secretary to State Corporations Advisory Commitee. Her entry, therefore, injects renewed energy for effective and efficient discharge of the mandate of the Office of the Deputy President. We will accord her maximum support as she leads the team.”

At her latest workstation, Wakogi is expected to manage the DP’s work schedule, including planning meetings and travel.

She will also not only provide departmental leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve teamwork across the the Deputy President’s office.

The DP’s office is among the busiest and most influential work stations in the country.

Wakogi replaces George McGoye who has been appointed Kenya’s Ambassador in Djibouti.

“We thank him for his leadership as he proceeds to serve our beloved Nation in another capacity and wish him all the best in his endeavours.”

McGoye heads to Djibouti, a close ally of Kenya, at a time the two countries, under the Intergovernment Authority on Development (IGAD) are involved in round the clock meetings to restore peace in war torn Sudan.

IGAD has consistently expressed alarm on the detroriating security situation in Sudan as a result of the fighting between Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in different parts of Khartoum and Merowe.
