Kakamega politician Cleophas Malala’s mother has called out the authorities for raiding her son’s home.

The home of Malala, the county’s former senator, was on Thursday raided by police who are reported to have planned to arrest him in relation to an incident that turned violent during the campaign period.

The politician’s mother is reading mischief and intimidation in the raid.

“This is too unfair to the Kenyans and we are not going to allow it,” she said.

“Barasa got his votes and let him relax as the governor of Kakamega. Tell Oparanya to get out of this and tell him his son cannot be tortured like this. We are Kenyans and we are going to fight over this.”

“You cannot torture my son like this. It is not allowed in Kenya. Let us go to court. My son is not a criminal.”

Malala lost to Fernandez Barasa in his bid to become Kakamega’s second governor after the lapse of Wycliffe Oparanya’s term.

The vocal Malala is accused of assaulting and injuring an unnamed politician during the polls.

And on election day, unknown people are reported to have hacked Oparanya’s official Facebook account and posted a photo of Mr Malala alongside a message obseitensbly from Oparanya urging the electorate to vote in Malala.

Oparanya promised that action would be taken against the person who hacked his account.
