WATCH: Larry Madowo breaks down at grandmother’s funeral
Kenyan journalist Larry Madowo has paid an emotional tribute to his departed grandmother, the late Francisca Madowo, as one of the biggest supporters of his successful career.
Madowo, now an international correspondent at American channel Cable News Network (CNN), at some point broke down during an emotional speech at her burial.
He described the burial as the saddest day of his adult life.

Madowo at some point broke down while paying his tribute, which he did in vernacular, and had to be supported by his friends and relatives.
Madowo’s grandmother is said to have taken care of him after his parents passed on when he was still a teenager.
“She knew I worked in the TV industry and would wave at the screen and wonder why I was not responding. We would meet physically and I would laugh it off,” Madowo explained.
With successful stints at KTN, NTV in Kenya as well as in South Africa, at BBC and CNN, Madowo is considered as among the most successful African journalists.
