WATCH – Marriage makes me a better person: Moji Shortbaba on how he met his wife
Kenyan gospel singer Moji Shortbaba, born James Muhia, sat down to an exclusive interview with Nairobi News on January 19, 2023, where he revealed how he met his significant other and took him some time to approach her before they eventually walked down the aisle in May 2021.
He revealed that his wife, Nyawira Gachugi, is a communications practitioner who also organizes events, and the first time he met her was when she was managing an event.
Despite this encounter, it was at a church service at the same church they attended that he got to know her.
“I saw her and I was like, yeah, beautiful girl. My wife and I are from two different sides of life in terms of money.
I was born in the hood and she came from money. I thought that this rich girl looked really nice. At that time, I was like ‘I would never try to vibe such a chick.’
I was just like ‘she’s nice’ and that was it. I didn’t pay much mind to it like that. I won’t lie. It wasn’t like a movie where we dropped some pens then picking them up in slow motion- no, no, no, it wasn’t like that but I thought she was a fresh chick and- me, I’m super shy.
Those stories of meeting someone and then starting to vibe with them the same day, it’s not my thing. I was like ‘ai, I’ll hide myself,” began Moji.
He went on to say that his life as a married man was very different from his bachelorhood days because of the responsibilities of marriage and living with someone else in the house.
“I’ve lived with people, with family and other relatives but I’ve never lived with another human like with her. And we like it. It has its up and downs but I think all the ups and downs that come with marriage makes me a better person,” added Moji.
Moji married his ladylove, Nyawira Gachugi, in a private stunning wedding ceremony a few weeks after he proposed to her and they held their traditional wedding. They met circa 2018.
