WATCH: MP Peter Salasya meets secret admirer, offers support
Mumias East lawmaker Peter Salasya has met the woman who went viral for proposing to him for marriage.
On October 18, 2022, the parliamentarian posted a video of himself and Lydia Ronald having rice, potatoes, and stew meal during the lunch hour at the Parliament canteen.

“I told you I will invite her for lunch and I’ve just congratulated her for her courage, she’s a brave girl. I will support her to fulfill her dreams in life. I know I have a lot of work in the constituency at the moment which may not allow me to focus on the other side but she’ll be a friend, I’ll support her in whatever, maybe for doing a job businesswise, I’ll support her,” said Mr Salasya.
He also deduced that she will be the next Woman Representative of Kisii County and revealed he had already blessed her to be a good leader.
“Vaida finally came for a lunch in the Parliament buildings as I had promised Kenyans. Lydia Erad will be the next Woman rep of Kisii County or the replacement of my friend, Silvana Osoro, South Mugirango MP. Her courage and charisma will take her places,” MP Salasya captioned the video on social media.
Mr Salasya, however, received humorous backlash for encouraging the girl to be a politician when she wanted to be a politician’s wife.
“She is not interested in running for office…she is interested in you being her husband,” said Kairitu Karuti Wira.
“She isn’t interested in politics. She has interest in you. Wife her.” Cow Girl added.
“Strike up a conversation if you want to get to know her better. You aren’t close but it’s clear that she likes you. Start small and bring up a common interest. This will break the ice, make things less awkward and establish a bond that you can progress from. Wacha kupanic,” Ogero Omanga advised the politician.
Lydia Ronad went viral last week after she carried a placard to the busy Tom Mboya Street next to Kenya Archives and asked the first-time politician to marry her.
“MP Peter Salasya, mary me pls pls. Mheshimiwa (Mumias) I’m Lydia Ronad,” she wrote on the placard and included her mobile phone number on it too.
“#warembo na Salasya nawapenda sana .Will reach you and say hi. Mr president @WilliamsRuto I remember you asking me kama nimepata sasa when you visited us in the @NAssemblyKE ,naona mambo si mbaya vile kunaenda. God bless Kenya .Our country is blessed,” the Parliamentarian initially responded to Ronad.
