WATCH: Viral character ‘Mulmulwas’ welcomes Lonyangapuo to the jobless corner

Dennis Kapchok Ruto of the ‘Kijana fupi round, Mulmulwas’ fame has welcomed outgoing West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo to the jobless corner after he was trounced in the just concluded general elections.

Kapchok became an online sensation in March 2019 after Prof. Lonyangapuo, described him as a “Kijana mfupi amenona round, huwezi jua tumbo ni wapi mgongo ni wapi” (a short person with a round figure).

The Governor used those words to describe Kapchok, a former MCA aspirant who questioned the county chief on why he settled on a deputy who lives and works as a medical expert in the US.

The governor’s phrase became a massive hit on social media.

In March 2019, Kapchok came out to vehemently deny Governor Lonyangapuo’s claim that he was jobless.

“I do advocacy work, I do research and I am a consultant in resource mobilization,” he told NTV on March 29, 2019.

On Tuesday, during an interview with NTV, Kapchok welcomed Prof Lonyangapuo to the jobless corner saying that he had a lot to learn.

“He said I do not have work, but now even him he doesn’t have one. Both of us now don’t have work. We have two people in West Pokot who are jobless,” he said.

Kapchok failed in his bid to become West Pokot’s senator, garnering 3,123 votes in the 2022 General Election. He came in fourth on a Safina Party ticket.

While West Pokot’s first governor Simon Kachapin reclaimed the seat in the just concluded General Election after defeating Prof Lonyangapuo of the Kenya Union Party.

Mr Kachapin, who vied on United Democratic Alliance, garnered 86,476 votes against Prof Lonyangapuo’s 84,610.

Prof Lonyangapuo’s deputy, Dr Nicholas Atudonyang, who has been out of the county for a number of years, was third with 2,294 votes.

Governor Lonyangapuo joins the list of leaders from the Rift Valley who were not vying under DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition and have been floored.
