Were’s debut for K’Ogalo delayed

Paul Were will have to wait a little longer before making his debut for Gor Mahia owing delay in getting his International Transfer Certificate.

The former AmaZulu forward penned a six-months deal with K’Ogalo on the mid-season transfer deadline day, but will not feature for Gor Mahia on Wednesday against Thika United as the Kenyan Premier League resumes.

Club acting secretary general Ronald Ngala on Tuesday told Nairobi News that the matter has been referred to Player Status Committee in Zurich.

SHORT-TERM DEAL

“The problem we have is that Were made up his mind late (to join Gor) and the federation offices was closed. This interfered with the process because his status is not reflected online. We will have to wait but I don’t think it will take long,” Ngala explained.

Ngala also revealed why the the club offered the attacker a short term deal.

“It was his wish to have a short-term contract, but we needed him. We have targets in the Cecafa Club Championship, and I think, he is one of such player that can help our course.”

Gor Mahia will leave the country on July 16 for Dar es Salaam to participate in the annual regional tournament where they have been pooled in Group A against Tanzania giants Yang, Al- Khartoum (Sudan), Telecom (Djibouti) and KMKM (Zanzibar).
