Why Bahati ‘snubbed’ Willy Paul’s and Hopekid’s concerts

On Sunday, August 23, top gospel singer Bahati was missing in two of the events he was meant to grace in Nairobi, despite being advertised as part of the performers.

One was HopeKid’s 19/60 Kayole concert and the other one in Huruma Redeemed Gospel Church, organised by Bahati’s frenemy, Willy Paul.

Both Hopekid and Willy Paul had said that Bahati would perform in the adverts for the concerts.

They even put Bahati’s pictures on their posters.

However, Bahati ended up headlining a concert in Kampala, Uganda, at the Green Festivals, performing alongside Radio and Weasel.

The Nairobi News has exclusively learnt that Bahati has not been in communication with both Willy Paul or Hopekid about their respective concerts.

Bahati has been away for a three-week US tour to promote his new controversial song ‘Kuchu Kuchu‘, featuring Wyre and King Kaka.

When he arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday, August 19, he only spent a few hours in Kenya before flying out to Uganda where he started a media tour before his first ever performance in Uganda on August 23.

The event had an estimated 20,000 people attending it at the ceremonial Kololo Airstrip grounds.

Sources close to Bahati say that both Willy Paul and Hopekid were using Bahati’s name to pull crowds, since Bahati had already announced on his social media pages two weeks ago that he will be in Uganda the said date.
