Why flamboyant Hassan Joho returned home after extensive tour of the USA, Europe
Former Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has returned to Kenya after months of international travel.
During that while, the flamboyant politician regularly updated posts on his socials including pictures of himself donning costly clothing items, vehicles and vacation locations.
His wandering spirit took him to several states in America, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands among other countries.
Living up to the negative criticism he endured during his tenure for being an Instagram influencer instead of governing his County, Joho posted several photos showing off his outfits, his locations, his shoes, his accommodations, and so forth.
Once a vocal opposition leader and one of two second in command to Raila Odinga in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, Joho went mute following Raila Odinga’s presidential election loss in August 2022 and embarked on extensive travelling in the immediate aftermath.
Mr Odinga had publicly promised him the Lands cabinet position in the event of a win but this did not come to fruition.
Since the election loss and today, April 4, 2023, Joho was only once seen in the company of Raila Odinga and allied opposition leaders in February 2023 before he left again.
However, according to reports by Mombasa-based publications, the former governor landed in the County last Friday from the United States of America and was spotted on Makadara Street on Monday, breaking fast with fellow Muslims as they enjoyed street food and interacted.
He was later spotted in Tudor meeting with local leadership and the constituents as well.
Joho, unlike him, did not post any of his Mombasa activities on his social media pages but took the time to wish his fellow Muslims Ramadhan Kareem, and later an encouragement message to his followers a day ago.
““Your Monday morning thoughts set the tone for your whole week. See yourself getting stronger, and living a fulfilling, happier and healthier life. — Germany Kent.” posted Joho.
Joho was at the forefront in campaigning for Raila Odinga to clinch the presidency on his fifth attempt but their efforts did not meet their expectations.
Since going missing in action, the second-term governor has not been seen in recent countrywide opposition activities including the maandamanos (demonstrations) that Raila has been leading his supporters in.
The opposition has been demonstrating and demanding for the lowering of the high cost of living as well as against President William Ruto ‘s presidency which they claimed was the result of a stolen election.
