Why Itumbi is calling for Raila’s arrest
Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Mr Dennis Itumbi, is calling for the arrest of Cord leader, Mr Raila Odinga, on grounds that the opposition leader is “threatening violence” (sic).
In a post on social media – where he boasts a huge following – Mr Itumbi said he is particularly irked by recent comments attributed to the former Prime Minister in the local dailies.
“Arrest Hon Raila Odinga or get him to CID – He should and must tell the Country what he means and why he is threatening violence. We condemned other politicians for saying exactly these stuff. He cannot get away with this….” Mr Itumbi wrote on Facebook.
Mr Odinga has recently been quoted by the Nation mobilizing Kenyans to force the removal of the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) officers.
INCITEMENT
Mr Odinga also maintains that the officers, led by Isaack Hassan, are not fit to oversee the country’s next General Elections in 2017.
Itumbi’s calls comes a few months after senior politicians including Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and legislators Moses Kuria and Junet Mohammed were arrested, locked up and slapped with incitement related charges.
Meanwhile, as the IEBC saga rages on, the Government agreed an deal with the Commissioners on Friday, which will see them exit office almost immediately, a year before their term of office lapses.
