Why Kenyans on Twitter want Kiambu MCA arrested

Social media users on Tuesday mounted a campaign calling for the arrest of the Kiambu MCA who is alleged to have defiled a minor, impregnated her and refused to pay for the child’s upkeep.

The story that was first highlighted by the Nairobi News on December 30 caused ripples online on why the matter was not being investigated.

Those who reacted on the incident using the hashtag #ChargeRapistMCA called on the office of public prosecutions to take up the matter.

Activist @alaminkimathi tweeted:  “A minor was raped by an MCA.Impregnated, her life was ruined. The man roams free, earns his allowances; threatens. @ODPP_KE #ChargeRapistMCA.”

Another user @paulinenjoroge weighed in: “@MwangiMuthiora and @alaminkimathi I understand that @ODPP_KE is following on the case and progress has been made #ChargeRapistMCA.”

In response to the tweet by Pauline, @MwangiMuthiora tweeted, “@matundura78 A week is gone, a minor defiled and impregnated by an MCA. Should leaders get away with crime? #ChargeRapistMCA.”

The said MCA was accused of sleeping with the minor who was a form two student promising to educate her.

The girl who spoke to Nairobi News said the politician stopped picking her calls when she informed him of her pregnancy.

She dropped out of school to fend for her 10-month-old daughter as she is a partial orphan who lives with her grandmother in Kinoo.
