Why Morgan Heritage have made Kenya their home
Two weeks after their sold out concert in Nairobi, everyone expected Morgan Heritage to fly back home but the Jamaican reggae group is still in town.
On Friday a full to capacity audience at the University of Nairobi was serenaded by Morgan Heritage’s Acapella version of their mega hits.
Mojo, Jemere, Gramps and Peter all shared their life stories that got them where they are with the university students in attendance during the launch of I’ve got ten minutes, Do you? campaign.
“Kenya is paradise,” Gramps Morgan kept chanting over and over during his speech to the students.
SETTLE IN KENYA
Peter and Gramps officially declared that Kenya is their home and they would like to one day come back and settle here once they retire from music.
They said that they hope to open a studio here and work with local artists in their individual music careers.
Morgan Heritage’s prolonged stay in the country brings back memories of other top acts such as Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist Demarco and Congolese crooner General Defao who came to Kenya to perform ended up staying longer than most people expect them to.
Other prominent speakers during the event included local artistes Size 8, DJ Mike radio personality Shaffie Weru and George Mbuto aka Generali of local TV production Beba Beba.
The I’ve got ten minutes, Do you? campaign is an initiative by the Youth Enterprise Development Fund that aims at helping the youth plan their future early in life under the tagline Nikuchora plan yako.
