Why not have more trains everyday? KOT ask

Kenyans on Twitter are wondering why Kenya Railways had to wait for a transport crisis to grip the city before increasing the number of trains on all its routes.

This is after after Transport Secretary James Macharia directed the corporation to increase its trains and reduce their fare by 10 percent until normal public transport services resume

Kenya Railways immediately responded by giving out a timetable that included the routes that have been added an additional trip from the normal frequency.

KOT now want Kenya Railways to continue the increased services even after the current transport crisis is over.

“Make it a continuous non-stop service throughout the day. and do not stop this service even when matatus finally call off their #MatatuStrike. Make your services reliable, and you will become a preferred urban commuter service provider,” said CMwabili.

“I agree 100 percent but the problem with their service is constant breakdown of their engines. Talk about time wastage,” replied Asheru92.

“Can this be permanent?” asked Grula Mrioka

“Great. Make it sustainable. This is the solution to the matatu menace. Employers now to stagger the time that employees report to and depart from work to fit in with this schedule,” tweeted WashingtoneAka2.

“I surely hope this will be the trend henceforth. It’s high time we get these services as you keep improving the schedule,” wrote PatrickThotho.

“The government should fully revive the railway services ..Expand the rail to other areas of the city and make it reliable. We cannot leave such an important sector of our economy to be run by cartels. Should involve the county governments of Kiambu, Nairobi, kajiado, and Machakos,” stated Thimba_Ke.

“Expand the service and build more rail tracks throughout the entire city,” said konzaltant.

“Can the government mobilize all idle Police and Military Buses and Trucks to ferry to work hard working and tax paying Kenyans as a matter of urgency,” asked Sir_Labz.
