Why Obama’s daughter Malia may not be coming

Malia Obama, the underage daughter of US President Barack Obama, who has been a subject of bizarre marriage proposals from two Kenyan men may not be coming to Kenya after all.

The 17-year-old first daughter is said to be a busy teenager this summer interning on the set of a television hit series, Girls that is currently being filmed at New York.

Though she took time off over the weekend to join her younger sister Sasha and father, who were in town as the President was attending a fund-raiser, it is unclear whether she will fly into the country coming Friday.

It is also not confirmed if Sasha and First Lady Michelle will accompany President Obama.

The girls enjoyed a daddy time with President Obama as they toured the central park and the new Whitney Museum and in the evening the girls hosted friends for dinner at a restaurant.

MARRIAGE PROPOSALS

This even as the first daughter receives marriage proposals from Kenyans, among them a Maasai moran and a young lawyer who already offered to give 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats to President Obama as dowry.

The two suitors have been hoping that Malia accompanies her father to Kenya on Friday as he is set to co-host the Global Entrepreneurship Summit alongside Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Information on who else, apart from American business moguls and government officials accompanying President Obama during the visit,  has not been revealed.

Malia seems to have an interest in media as this is the second stint in television production. Last year she worked as a production assistant on the set of Halle Berry’s television series, Extant.

She is entering her senior year in high school and has been making the rounds to prospective colleges. She has been spotted visiting a number of New York schools.

New York University, Barnard College and her father’s alma mater, Columbia University, have all been hinted as colleges she is likely to join once she graduates.
