Wife arrested after husband’s body is found dumped on river bank


A housewife has been arrested after her husband was found brutally murdered and his body dumped on a river bank in Kirinyaga County.

Mr Murage Mugo, 40, a tomato trader, was found dead with his legs and hands tied with ropes. He had stab wounds on the chest and the back of his head.

His vehicle was found parked just few metres from where the body was dumped. A blood-stained kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was also found at the scene.

Villagers stumbled on the body on Tuesday morning and informed officers at Wang’uru police station.

ASSISTING IN INVESTIGATIONS

The woman was arrested on Wednesday evening at her home and taken to the police station where she was locked up for questioning. Police officers she is assisting in the investigations.

“We just want to know what really happened and that is why we have picked up the housewife,” said one of the investigating officers.

Mr Mugo was said to have delivered his tomatoes in Nairobi for sale on Monday morning and returned in the evening. He was later seen in a social place and left for home only to be found dead the following morning.

Villagers suspect he was carjacked on his way home at night and attacked.
